Realistic Mathematics Learning, Activity and Learning AchievementAbstract
This research was motivated by the low activity and achievement of students in learning mathematics which was
found through initial observations of class VIII B students of SMP Negeri 3 Tabanan for the 2022/2023 Academic
Year. This type of research is classroom action research using the design developed by Kemmis and Tagart. Based
on the research above, whether the activity and achievement of students' mathematics learning can be increased
through the application of realistic mathematics learning. This study aims to (1) determine student learning activities,
(2) determine student achievement, by applying a realistic mathematics learning model. The research subjects were
32 students and carried out in 2 cycles. Data on student achievement in this study was measured using a multiple
choice form of the Learning Achievement Test. The results showed that the activeness of students in cycle 1 was
3.13 in the active category and in cycle 2 it increased to 4.15 in the very active category. With an increase
of 1.02 or the percentage increase in students' mathematics learning activity is 3
2.58%. The average value of students' mathematics learning achievement in cycle I was 74.03, increasing to
83.59 in cycle II. With an increase of 9.56 or a percentage increase of 12.91%. Thus it can be concluded that the
application of realistic mathematics learning can increase the activity and learning achievement of class VIII B
students of SMP Negeri 3 Tabanan for the 2022/2023 academic year. Therefore it is suggested to teachers of
Tabanan 3 Public Middle School for the 2022/2023 Academic Year to apply a realistic mathematics learning
model, and consider realistic mathematics learning models as an alternative in implementing mathematics
learning (in particular) and other subjects.
